Revitalising the Academic and Research Ante in NILDS

The Director-General of the National Institute of Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), Professor Abubakar Sulaiman has given official imprimatur to sabbatical staff with the Institute to present a well-researched paper-based of their experiences and contributions to the Institute, at the end of their sabbatical leave; thereby adding positive value to the institute and making a remarkable contribution to scholarship and academics.
This has necessitated Associate Professor of Criminology, Dr. Usman Ahmad Karofi to make a presentation to the public on Wednesday, 13th January, 2021, titled “Policing and Plethora of offences in the Federal Capital Territory”.
Hitherto, the Acting Director, Legislative Support Services, NILDS, Prof. Edoba Omoregie, who heads the Department where Dr. Karofi served, commended the Director General for giving his approval to such endeavour.
While making the opening remarks, Prof. Sulaiman admonished staff to adhere to COVID 19 protocols always. He went on to explain that NILDS is a premier academic institution and therefore imperative for staff on sabbatical leave with the Institute to make an invaluable academic contribution to human capital development so that their works can be appropriately published for the advancement of governance.
He further stressed that at the expiration of sabbatical leave by NILDS staff elsewhere, a public presentation must be made to the Institute on the basis of their experiences, findings and contributions.
He avowed that the topic is very germane to the country today more than ever before because the nagging and protracted issue of insecurity has become ubiquitous and widespread across the country.
Dr. Karofi later made his presentation, after which contributions, suggestions and other observations were offered by management staff and research fellows.
