APCON SEEKS PARTNERSHIP WITH NILDS TO ENGENDER LEGISLATIVE BRANDING

The Registrar/Chief Executive of the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON), Dr. Olamilekan Fadolapo paid a working visit to the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS) to seek partnership to engender legislative branding in the country.
The Registrar, who visited in company of Head of the Legal Unit , Chukwudi Ezeaba, Head of Zonal Operations, Ahmed Yelwa as well as Tunde Ashaolu and Chidiebere intimated the Director General of Institute with the numerous benefits of advertising and branding for organizations and the country at large, explaining that if handled by experts, it produces a mileage that can galvanise the country to greater heights within the shortest time possible.
He said since NILDS is the only Institution set up to train parliamentarians and other stakeholders in the democratic process, it is germane for APCON, therefore, to work in sync with the Institute in the interest of all.
While responding, the Director General of National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS) and a former Minister of National Planning, Prof. Abubakar O. Sulaiman stated that NILDS is a critical stakeholder in capacity building and think thank organ for legislators in Nigeria and indeed the ECOWAS sub-region and beyond.
He reiterated that the expansion of the mandate of the Institute, has immensely impacted the scope of the activities and involvement of the Institute in the democratic process which has been bulked up to include trainings and collaborations with Civil Society Organisations and other arms of government apart from the legislature.
He further informed that a Memorandum of Understanding between the two institutions is in the offing and its implementation will be a springboard to a positive perception of the legislature and better understanding of the overall efforts of government geared towards actualizing democratic gains in the country.
Also in attendance were Director, Special Duties, NILDS, Dr. Adeyemi Fajingbesi, Director, Democratic Studies, Dr. Adewale Aderemi, Head, Bills and Legislative Drafting, Professor Yusuf Arowosaye, Acting Director, Training and International Cooperation, Hajia Amina Bibi-Farouk and Special Assistant to the DG on Administration, Alhaji Sarafadeen Alabelewe.
