Kaduna State Law Review Committee Opens Talks with NILDS on Knowledge Acquisition
The Kaduna State Law Review Committee recently paid a working visit to the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies, NILDS to acquire knowledge that will impact the committee’s mandate.
The Committee, chaired by the former Solicitor General of Kaduna State, Barrister Aliyu Umaru was inaugurated by the Kaduna State Governor to to improve the laws of the State by making changes or corrections so that the laws will be in harmony with the constant demands of the time being and desired democratic norms.
While welcoming them to NILDS, the Director General of the Institute, Prof. Abubakar O. Sulaiman said beyond wide consultation, the committee should ensure that all critical stakeholders are carried along. He further ensured that the Institute, which is one of the world’s premier academic and research institutions supporting legislatures as well as advancing democratic governance will stop at nothing to support them with publications, relevant legal documents and human resources.
The Chairman of the Committee noted that the Institute’s reputation as a knowledge management hub and capacity development gives him the confidence that the relationship that is being established will be a beneficial one with regards to the task at hand.
Members of the delegation include the Alternate Chairman of the Committee and Solicitor General, Kaduna State Ministry of Justice, Barr. Chris Umar, Barr. Baba Aliyu, Prof. Abubakar Madaki, Murtala Halidu and Blessing Japheth.
Also in attendance were the Director, Legislative Support Services, Prof. Edoba Omoregie, SA Academic to DG, Dr. Nasir Abdulsalam, Head of Legal Research, Dr. Bethel Ihugba, Senior Research Fellow, Dr. Clinton Jaja and Research Fellow, Dr. Muhammad Amali.
