NILDS Trains Parliamentary Management Staff of Delta State House of Assembly Service Commission
The National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS) has held basic and advanced parliamentary management courses for staff of the Delta State House of Assembly Service Commission from the 10th to 19th of August, 2020.
In a speech that drew curtain on the training programme, the Director General of the Institute, Prof. Abubakar O. Sulaiman, represented by the Director, Democratic Studies at the Institute, Dr. Adewale Aderemi said that the specific objectives of the workshop were to acquaint participants with the technical knowledge and skills required to support the work of the Houses of Assembly in the areas of lawmaking, oversight and representation.
He reiterated that NILDS leaves no stone unturned in ensuring that participants of such programmes are given the opportunity to share practical experiences and knowledge in the areas of parliamentary management and personnel administration among others.
In her remarks, the Acting Director, Training at the Institute, Amina Bibi-Farouk informed that the modules were specifically designed to suit the peculiarities of the Delta State House of Assembly Service Commission.
She further explained that the two-week training programmes were targeted at two categories of officers as follows: Middle Level officers who undertook the Basic Parliamentary Management and Management Officers who undertook the Advanced Parliamentary Management course.
While giving the vote of thanks, the leader of the delegation, Ambrose Aghoghovbia expressed appreciation to the Institute for the tailor-made programme, while affirming that it will bolster their productivity and in turn strengthen the legislature.
The high point of the event was the presentation of certificates to the participants.
