JICA AND NILDS SET TO BEGIN TALKS ON COLLABORATION ON DEMOCRATIC CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT
Japan International Co-operation Agency, JICA, responsible for official development assistance for the government of Japan, to developing countries and the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies NILDS have opened talks on the feasibility of bilateral capacity development exchange programmes between Japanese Parliamentarians and their Nigerian counterparts.
At a meeting between the Director General, National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies, NILDS Prof Abubakar Olanrewaju Sulaiman and the Embassy of Japan in Nigeria, Deputy Head of Mission/Counsellor, Shigeru UMETSU, the Embassy hinted that the Japanese Embassy will intensify efforts towards its governance training programmes under JICA with Nigeria.
Earlier, NILDS Director General, Prof. Sulaiman had asked for enhanced technical collaboration to boost the already existing international co-operation between Japan and Nigeria. It would be recalled that Nigeria-Japan Parliamentary Friendship was established in November, 2018.
