The Acting Director General of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies, Dr. Adeyemi Fanjingbesi hosted an interactive meeting with the management and entire staff of the Institute on Wednesday, 22nd May, 2019, where he reeled out his vision and administrative roadmap for the Institute.
He assured the staff of consolidating the successes of the Institute under the leadership of the past Director General, Prof. Ladi Hamalai. He stated that NILDS has since its establishment in 2011 lived up to its mandates, particularly by improving the capacities of legislators and legislative Aides through supply-driven trainings, policy analysis and research services.
While enumerating the laudable achievements of the Institute, which by and large have made it a “household” name in Nigeria and beyond, Dr. Fanjingbesi who has been the Director of Training and Research before his new portfolio, did not fail to give credit to both expert and support staff of the Institute. He stated that for any organization to celebrate results, employee’s motivation, training and enabling environment are paramount. Hence, the Acting DG promised to prioritize staff welfare and training, adding that his tenure would operate an open-door policy that would welcome innovative ideas that would move the Institute forward.
He informed that various Committees to be headed by Management staff have been created to review among others the Institute’s scheme of service, promotion processes and training policies, with a view to harnessing and correcting injustices in the system.
Directors at the Institute took turns to address the staff on the need to take advantage of the transition window which would be the first since the establishment of NILDS to work harmoniously and engage strategic thinking in surpassing the present achievements.
