Abaji Zone Also Made A Showing At The NILDS Quiz

The 2019 Quiz competition for FCT Secondary Schools, Organized by National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILSD), in Collaboration with the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Secondary Education Board (SEB) and Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) was a success story in Abaji Zone.

The eight (8) Schools that participated in the zone include, GDSS Abaji, GSS Rubochi, GSS Kwaku, GSS Gudun Karya, GSS Burpe, GSS Gawu, Federal Collage, Rubochi, and Thaqafatul Islamiyya Primary & Secondary Schools.

Out of the schools that participated, Thaqafatul Islamiyya Primary & Secondary School, Abaji emerged winner with the highest number of 18 points, after series of tie breaking questions. While GSS Gawu came second runner up with 16 points. While, GDSS Abaji came third with the 14 points.

At the end of the competition, certificates of participation were given the schools while a Trophy was handed to the overall winner, Thaqafatul Islamiyya Primary & Secondary School Abaji.

Earlier, the Coordinator of the Abaji zone, Dr. Eze Nwosu highlighted the objectives of the quiz to include; broadening the understanding and knowledge on the legislative process and workings of the legislature in Nigeria by the youths and students in secondary schools.

Also, it aims at further encouraging the students to imbibe reading culture, engage the students in critical thinking, national consciousness and awareness. It will also enhance and stimulate the students’ interest in politics and make them more proactive in legislative matters as they grow.

Further to this, the 2019 edition was the fourth edition of the competition which is envisaged to grow beyond the federal capital territory by going national and beyond in future.

The team that administered the process at the Abaji zone include Dr. Samuel Oguche as Quiz Master, Bashir Wali, Recorder, Ojo Francis of the Secondary Education Board as Time-Keeper and Abdulmalik Dahiru as the Media Attaché while James Isaac captured the event on video and Namadi piloted the vehicle that conveyed the crew to the venue.
