Clerks of Committees in National Assembly Receive Capacity Boost on Legislative Manuals
“Since the return of Nigeria to democratic rule, the legislature has developed its own unique terminologies which formed a vital element in the design of new legislative manual for Clerks of Committees; the manual was conscientiously developed to deepen the understanding of the technical and operational workings of the Committees”, these were the words of the Director General, National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies, Prof. Ladi Hamalai on Monday, November 3, 2018 during a 2-Day training workshop organized for Clerks of various Standing Committees of the National Assembly.
Also at the event, former Clerk of the House of Representatives, Gani Ojagbohunmi informed that the legislative manual contains five different manuals that should serve as a reference book to the Clerks: it has manual for official reporting; Oversight; Public Hearing and Bill drafting.
The training is under the auspices of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies, NILDS.
