Society Visits DG,NILDS Ahead of All African Women Summit

Towards the successful hosting of the 2018 All African Summit, the Society for Empowerment and Self Reliance and convener of the event paid a courtesy visit to the Director General, National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies, Prof. Ladi Hamalai recently.

The team led by Rosemary Effiong sought the DG's participation by giving a goodwill message as well as moderating a session at the event which comes up in October.The Leader of the delegation further said that Prof Hamalai's efforts at gender mainstreaming has not gone unnoticed and she will indeed add value to the summit.

She further sought the support of the Institute by training women across Africa in leadership and legislative studies.

In her response, the Director General said that the plight of women and children touches her and she endeavors to do her best in alleviating their suffering.
While accepting to attend the summit and present a goodwill message, she informed that there is an urgent need to get ourselves back to normalcy and this can only be achieved through collective effort.

The summit's objective among others is to advocate for structural changes in the political framework to increase women's participation in development processes in order to foster economic growth and development.
