The National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS) is catching them young and inculcating the knowledge of the Legislature and Democracy among secondary school students through its Quiz Competition on the Legislature and Democracy.

The competition which is not only fast
Gaining popularity but also discovering brains that can match other protégés on international stage.

The 2017 zonal edition of the competition, its second outing took place on 5th of June across the 8 zones
of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja with participation from about 80 Schools.
Though the students displayed brilliance and poise across all the zones with notable fierceness in
Competitive spirit, a winner was drawn from each zone to compete at the final lap coming up on 12th of June 2017 at the National Assembly Complex.

After a formidable competition at the zonal level where,Olumawu School, Wuse 2 emerged as winner at the AMAC Central zone,the AMAC EAST zone produced Government Secondary School, Karshi as winner while Government Day Secondary School Wuse 2 showed supremacy at the AMAC NORTH zone.

Kuje zone saw Government Secondary School, Gosa clinching the first while the Bwari zone of the competition witnessed an amazing parade of knowledge as Government Secondary School, Shere however took the upper hand.Gwagwalada zone produced Government Secondary School Kuje as winner, the Kwali zone saw Government Secondary School, Dobi, dominate while at Abaji zone, Government Secondary School Kwaku flew their flag higher than the other competing schools.

The National Institute for Legislative Studies has not only fulfilled its enabling act, Section 3 Paragraph H to develop a training curriculum for schools and tertiary institutions on democracy, legislative practice and
procedure, political culture and development but has on another hand facilitated public education on the values of Democracy and the Legislature which would go a long way to improve public knowledge of legislative practice and democracy.

The final leg of the 2018 NILDS FCT Quiz Competition on the Legislature took which took place at the National Assembly Complex on July 28th, 2018 produced Government Secondary School Shere as winner while Olumawu School, Wuse 2 and Government Secondary School Karshi were Second and Third Runners up respectively.
